    Based in Windsor, CT, Triumph employs approximately 145 personnel. The Company’s key products and services include design, development, manufacture and support of highly engineered mechanical actuation and components for fixed wing and rotary commercial and military aircraft and military systems.

     

    Reporting to the Operations Manager, we are looking for a Production Tooling Technician to pre-kit, repair, rebuild, maintain, clean and store tooling components for mill, lathe and grinding machines along with other tooling applications. Inspect and verify tooling components using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges and Parlec. The tooling technician will alternately pre-kit more than one type of machine tool such as surface grinders, mills, drill presses, lathes, etc. on machining operations of moderate complexity. The tool kitting scope of work will have some diversity and are in support of the machining operations.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Disassemble tooling components.
    • Accurate tooling assembly.
    • Carefully inspects and evaluates tooling components.
    • Efficiently cleans and stores tooling components.
    • Systematically evaluates damage to tooling components.
    • Surface grinding and setups.
    • Milling pre-kitting setup and locating.
    • Keep work area clean and orderly.
    • Ability to use precision measuring equipment to inspect / verify tooling components, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators and gauges.
    • Limited knowledge of Blue Print reading.
    • Working knowledge with surface grinders and various hand tools.
    • Ability to use many types of precision measuring instruments.
    • Ability to stand most of the time.
    • Ability to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
    • Ability to use shop mathematics.
    • Ability to learn general computer skills
    • Assist with managing the inventory of tooling spare parts and tools.
    • Assist with any related repair and rebuild activity and help with the execution tooling component sourcing strategy
    • Participates in 5S, safety, training, and continuous improvement activities in their area.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma, or equivalent.  Technical or vocational training desired.  
    • Minumum of 1 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
    • Tooling pre-setting experience is a plus.
    • Mechanically inclined.
    • Ability to read prints preferred.
    • Able to check dimensions using calipers.
    • Work with Quality Assurance and Production on running lines.
    • Demonstrated ability to concentrate, understand and follow instructions as well as pay attention to details.
    • Ability to work in a Team Setting and get along with others.
    • Ability to work over-time and on weekends as needed.
