    The Sheet Metal Mechanic Associate (Aircraft Assembler) works under the direction of higher classified Sheet Metal Mechanic in assigned manufacturing production department to learn and perform a variety structural assembly operations, fastener installation, and inspection duties.

    Responsibilities


    • Works from drawings, blueprints manufacturing specifications and procedures, quality procedures and instructions, operations and work sheets and company, military and customer specifications and procedures.

    • Drills, edge fill, fits and assembles a variety of detail parts, skins and honeycomb details. Inspects for proper installations and integrity.

    • Approves and stamps acceptable assemblies and reject assemblies not meeting requirements.

    • Performs Production Accountability duties associated with the processing, verification, quality auditing and inspection of assemblies, parts and tooling for which the individual has been delegated production accountability.

    • Maintains necessary documentation and records. Refers any unusual problems to supervision.

    • Keeps work areas clean and orderly. May be required to perform other related duties as required.

    • Other work related assignments as required.

    Qualifications


    • The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED.

    • Must be willing and able to work any shift.

    • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required.

    • Prefer candidate to have manufacturing work experience or mechanical background.

    • Basic computer skills preferred.

    • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job: standing for 8 to 10 hours, kneeling, stooping bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, maneuvering around and working in tight confined spaces, lying on back and drilling up, drilling overhead and going up and down stairs.

    • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a United States Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
