    This role will have primary production engineering management responsibilities, possibly supervising both individual contributors and other managers. Functionally, this position will have day-to-day operational authority for Manufacturing Engineering, Planning (Methods), NC Programming, Tool Design & Integration, and Production Technology disciplines.  The manager will interface internally with all levels of management; as well as, customers, suppliers and government representatives.  The qualified candidate must be comfortable pitching and selling project initiatives and providing project status to these individuals.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Staff, mentor, train and supervise production engineers to establish a balanced talent pipeline and efficient support-touch ratio, while creating efficiencies and eliminating redundancies
    • Define manufacturing sequences, build plans, bills of material, process flows, and plant layouts
    • Introduce industry leading principles, techniques and technology
    • Facilitate effective Root-Cause analysis, as well as driving Corrective Action implementation
    • Ensure the team adheres to functional policies, procedures and standards
    • Establish efficient manufacturing processes and production layouts
    • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment and tools to verify their efficiency
    • Ensures processes and procedures comply with local, federal and industry regulations

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (or related Technical degree) with 10+ years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
    • 5+ years previous supervisory or management experience
    • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field with general knowledge of other related disciplines
    • Ability to act independently and drive projects – identify critical paths, develop and execute work around and mitigation plans for issues and deliver products/projects on time within cost
    • Team oriented w/ ability to both participate and lead complex projects through all phases
    • Deal well w/ high-pressure situations, shifting priorities, and competing interests
    • Exceptional communicator with the ability to gauge audience and tailor message
    • Proficient writing reports, conducting meetings and using MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
    • Some travel required (10-20%)

     

    Preferred:

    • Experience with CATIA v4, CATIA v5, ENOVIA, TeamCenter, SAP and MES systems.
    • LEAN, Green Belt, Black Belt, and/or Project Management Certification
