We partner with key manufacturers to produce crucial components, systems and subsystems required to help maintain a competitive and technological advantage. We provide design, development and support of internally designed components, subsystems and systems, as well as production of complex assemblies using external designs. 
     
    Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Electrons and Controls employs approximately 500 personnel. The Company’s key products and services include specializing in the design, development, certification, manufacture and repair of fuel pumps, fuel metering units, fuel controls and electronic engine control systems for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft servicing military, commercial, regional and business jet market segments.
     
    We are currently seeking a Team Lead, Mechanical Systems to supervise within the Hydro department and will be responsible to meet and exceed safety, quality, production and delivery metrics in a production environment. The incumbent will directly supervise production employees working in the union manufacturing environment. The Team Lead will schedule shift production work and hold the staff accountable for meeting production deliverables while maintaining 100% product quality and ensuring a safe working environment.

    Responsibilities

    • Solid experience with aerospace assembly and test practices, small volume mixed model production, machining components, contract bargaining agreement personnel management, lean manufacturing, process flow optimization and strong communication skills. 
    • Hire, interview, train, schedule, plan, assign, and direct work.
    • Address employee issues, takes appropriate action, rewarding and disciplining employees in accordance with Company policy.
    • Troubleshoot, and resolve problems, analyze work orders, establish time estimates, and create production schedules that meet internal and external needs and demands.
    • Establish and/or adjust work procedures to meet production budgets, schedules and On-time Delivery expectations.
    • Interpret specifications, process instructions, blue prints, and work orders to assist production employees with their assigned duties.
    • Plan and coordinate the flow of materials through the department to respond to production demands. Direct staff in adjusting machines and equipment to meet production specifications.
    • Support the disposition of product to minimize production delays and down time.
    • Develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
    • Lead department initiatives to implement Continuous Improvements/Lean initiatives and quality improvements
    • Develop and Implement effective training programs to improve production employee skill sets.
    • Developing Root Cause and Corrective Action improvements to our processes.
    • Drive a work environment of Increasing Safety Awareness, and supervise departmental Health & Safety Risk Assessments.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in operations, engineering, business, or a technical field preferred.
    • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • At least 2 years previous supervisor / management experience in a manufacturing facility is a requirement; union leadership experience is a plus.
    • MS Office or equivalent, Project management tools experience is a plus.
    • Policy deployment experience. 
    • Familiarity with export control regulations (ITAR/EAR) a plus
    • Strong business acumen coupled with mental aptitude and motivation to learn.
    • Demonstrate initiative and advanced interpersonal skills in team problem solving situations, relationship building and aligning with business goals.
    • Lean Practitioner certification and experience at reducing waste
    • Contract business agreement negotiation skills and work practices
    • Knowledge of machining and special processes procedures.
    • Multi-lingual language skills a plus
    • Ability and willingness to travel - 10%
