Some knowledge and experience is required in the following areas, with substantial experience and expertise in many of these areas:

    • Database development and management;
    • Trade studies;
    • Weight control and reduction;
    • Supplier weight management and tracking;
    • Moment and Product of Inertia calculations
    • Concept development for light weight designs;
    • Weight report preparation;
    • SAWE RP8 coding;
    • Risk and opportunity estimation and tracking;
    • Actual weights and reconciliation

    Must be able to lead and/or mentor less experienced engineers. Must be a self-starter with ability to work with little oversight. Must be able to plan and status tasks within constraints imposed by an overall development schedule.

    Candidate must have proficiency in extracting mass properties data from CATIA and Enovia. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

    Tasks can include:

    • Coordinate with multiple engineering teams and suppliers to achieve accurate and complete mass properties data for aircraft components.
    • Interpret results of weight data analysis; identify issues and opportunities for weight optimization.
    • Develop and maintain a mass properties database.
    • Ensure weight data integrity for full bill of material.
    • Support engineering change request through gathering data and presenting potential weight impacts.
    • Mentor and lead inexperienced engineers in the above tasks.
    • Support optimization of mass properties processes through automation and quality improvement.
    • Regular interface with customer and management to discuss and status tasks being performed
    • Project planning as required to ensure tasks are performed to support over Program schedules and milestones
    • Gather actual weight data and reconcile complex assemblies in varying stages of completion.

    Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
