Overview

This is an Associate Manager role in the Core Tool Design function. With direct oversight of the Division Tooling Functional Manager, this position will have primary responsibility to prioritize, schedule and assign tool design resources to satisfy division-wide tool design requirements.  This includes developing and maintaining unified functional policies, procedures and standards, harmonizing them with other functional areas.  As a subject matter expert, the candidate will support strategic initiatives related to new product introduction, large-scale process engineering improvements, and manufacturing transitions.  The manager will interface internally with all levels of management; as well as, customers, suppliers and government representatives.  The qualified candidate must be comfortable pitching and selling project initiatives and providing project status to these individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor, train and supervise tool designers (both local and remote locations)
  • Host recurring status meetings and technical problem solving events with division resources
  • Manage the balance between resources and budgets, sustaining a world-class design efficiency
  • Develop, maintain, and report tool design Key Performance Indicators
  • Create and maintain a tool design scheduling tool to communicate status to sites and division
  • Develop and maintain functional tool design policies, procedures and standards
  • Deconflict competing schedule priorities between manufacturing locations and programs
  • Identify industry best practices to employ in tool design equipment, software, techniques and standard work design to promote industry-leading tool design concepts and efficiency
  • Ensures processes and procedures comply with local, federal and industry regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (or related Technical degree) with 6+ years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the Tool Design discipline with general knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Ability to act independently and drive projects – identify critical paths, develop and execute work around and/or mitigation plans for issues and deliver projects on time within cost
  • Team oriented w/ ability to both participate and lead small-medium projects through all phases
  • Deal well w/ high-pressure situations, shifting priorities, and competing interests
  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to gauge audience and tailor message
  • Proficient writing reports, conducting meetings and using MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio)
  • Travel to other Triumph Group sites, suppliers and customers as required. (30-50%)

 

 

  • Preferred:
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Experience with CATIA v4, CATIA v5, ENOVIA, TeamCenter, SAP and MES systems.
  • LEAN, Green Belt, Black Belt, and/or Project Management Certification
  • Managed multiple sites, HR functions-coaching, counseling, hiring, terminations, etc.
  • Program/Project Management and direct reports
  • Will travel between multiple sites 30%
