    POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for ensuring that parts meet all tolerances, specs, mechanical properties, as well as documenting all non-conforming features and characteristics. The appropriate candidate will need to be able to work with minimal supervision, will interact on a daily basis with quality, production, and machine shop personnel.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following: other duties may be assigned.

    • Inspect parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies to drawings and prints.
    • Initiates non-conformance reports on all parts and assemblies that are not to drawing or print specifications.
    • Ability to read and interpret material certs and heat treat / mechanical certs
    • Initiates corrective action requests when conditions adverse to quality are repetitive in nature.
    • Completes, inspects and distributes all quality records and documents.
    • Perform specialized testing as required.
    • Performs related duties as needed by supervision.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Maintains safe operations by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
    • Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; initiating repair work orders.
    • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
    • Documents actions by completing required paper etc.
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications, etc.

     Participate in required meetings and training.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

     

    • High School diploma or general education degree (GED);

    • 2+ years related experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

    • Ability to interpret complex drawings and prints.
    • Strong documentation and communication skills
    • Advanced knowledge of inspection tools, including: Roundness Tester, Optical Comparator, Surface Plates, Profilometer, etc.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

    • Intermediate computer skills preferred.
    • Experience with MS Excel is desired.
    • Previous Machine Shop In-process Inspection
    • Experience working in an AS9100 certified organization
    • CMM programming knowledge
    • Level II Liquid Penetrant Inspection preferred.

     

    MATHEMATICAL, COMPUTER & LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    • Proficient in shop math (able to apply geometry, trigonometry and calculus to solve work-related problems) and Must also be proficient in the use of a variety of standard inspection equipment such as micrometers, dial bore gauges, use of sine plates and indicators
    • Must be able to use personal computer to access and retrieve information

    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
