This position will be responsible for the purchasing and management of raw material for the manufacturing of long aluminum extrusions and plating.
Responsible for efficiently purchasing outside products and components for manufacturing and business needs within approved specifications and approved suppliers. The successful candidate will have experience in raw material purchasing, specifically in aluminum extrusion and aluminum plate.
Compiles and analyzes statistical data to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Monitors performance of suppliers. Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Evaluates areas of opportunity to leverage material acquisitions. Tracks data to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes. Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices and to determine lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules. Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, follows up orders placed, verifies delivery, approves payment, and maintains necessary records. May prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages.
The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3-5 years of related experience.
5 years of raw material purchasing in the aerospace manufacturing industry. Raw material experience must be purchasing aluminum extrusions, and plating.
The successful candidate must have experience in working with local machine shops negotiating, scheduling, and reviewing quality issues. The purchasing agent will be responsible for sending out our raw material to these shops when our internal capacity cannot manufacture.
Must have outside processing experience with anodizing, hardening, heat treatment, etc of aluminum products.
Must have strong MRP experience in order to manage inventory, demand , and forecast.
