Receives, stores, and issues tools, machine tool fixtures, dies, measuring devices, materials, equipment, and other items.


Responsibility for all tooling, material and supplies maintained within the machine shop tool crib.

  • Maintain an inventory and item location system for all supplies, tooling and fixtures necessary to support the needs of the machine shop.
  • Reorder, items in cost efficient lot sizes as necessary, following established budget protocol.
  • Monitor the inside and outside tool sharpening services.
  • Assist the Job Setup Coordinator with kitting jobs in preparation for machine loading.
  • Cross-trained to enable support of preset operations.
  • Seek and document lean process improvement ideas for department.
  • Required to communicate effectively with vendors.
  • Will be required to perform other job duties as requested, directed or assigned.



  • Must be familiar with standard machine shop cutting tools.
  • Ability to maintain a computer inventory database system.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products required i.e.: Work and Excel.
  • Must be able to read and interpret tools manual.
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to determine tool grade for metal cutting.
  • Ability to read and understand complex blueprints.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. of machine tooling, cutting fluids or draw material.
  • Must be able to operate in a normal machine shop factory environment, including exposure to machining oils and fluids, loud air hose noise and constant exposure to sharp curring tools, metal chips and burrs.
  • Must wear PPE while working in machining areas.
  • High School diploma or equivalent 3+ year of related experience.
