Responsibilities

Contributes to the production of high quality products at the lowest possible cost by assisting with determination of optimal manufacturing/inspection methods, and nonconformance prevention.

  1. Coordinates with engineering estimators, analyzes the production and inspection methods specified, and determines a cost-effective quality plan to assure compliance with all customer requirements.
  2. Coordinates with product line engineers and inspectors in preparation and use of necessary inspection checklists, and resolve any implementation problems.
  3. Trains Inspectors in preparation of first article documents and data packages.
  4. Provides QA technical liaison to inspectors, and to various Lean Manufacturing Cell and Continuous Improvement teams.
  5. Coordinates closely with customer and regulatory agency quality representatives.
  6. Coordinates with product line engineers to assist with MRB activities, reviews production and inspection methods used, performs root cause analyses for repetitive non-conformances, and determines effective corrective actions to reduce or eliminate the cost of poor quality.
  7. Tracks inspection gages, and assures gages are maintained within calibration cycles.
  8. Performs internal audits of our AS9100 quality management system.
  9. Assist in the maintenance of a business culture which supports the Company’s overall business objectives and goals.
  10. Ensure proper safety procedure is followed within the team environment.
  11. Maintain clean work environment in full compliance with company, customer and government regulations.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors’ degree in engineering or manufacturing or equivalent in experience.
  • Plus 10 years direct experience as Quality Engineer role directly related to aerospace industry.
  • Certificate in Quality Engineering/Quality Auditor, preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Nadcap and AS9100 audits.
  • Experience overseeing FAA Repair Station Inspection activities is a plus.
  • Must be familiar with common industry quality specifications associated with mechanical aerospace products.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measurement in percentage, fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts and interpret graphs and technical drawings.
  • Ability to work well in a diverse and team environment.
  • Must have basic computer skills.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Six-Sigma Green/Black Belt, Quality Process analyst, and/or Quality Process Technician is highly preferred and encouraged.
