The Contracts Manager will partner with Op Co President while reporting to the Senior Director of Contracts at the Business Unit in managing, interpreting and understanding the terms of their complex contract and changes to that contract, in order to maximize the commercial/operational benefit of said contract for the business unit.  The leader will possess a complete understanding of the contents of their complex contract and will apply the terms to the best commercial and operational interests of the enterprise. 


The leader will manage a team and coordinate as appropriate with other functions within the business to ensure the following:  Appropriate commercial advice related to business issues that arise under the fulfillment of the contract, contract administration and maintenance, invoice and collection follow up, customer interface and correspondence control. Responsible for proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, pricing administration and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements and customer specifications. Ensures timely and effective communication with the customer regarding all contractual matters. Interprets contractual language and requirements and advises management of contractual rights and obligations and participates is leadership discussions in how to most effectively support the customer needs whilst being cognizant of contract entitlements and obligations. Coordinates with all functions to ensure contract compliance, timely contract communication responses and proposal development activities. Leads all pricing activities to support proposal development. Responsible for examination of estimates of material, labor and overhead as well as delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness of proposal inputs; responsible also for pricing development and administration including overhead and burden rate application. Coordinates proposal reviews with management and customer representatives. Leads all fact finding and negotiation activities.



  • The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and ten years of related contracts and pricing experience
  • Requires a broad business background including strong mathematical and financial knowledge, and an ability to compile and analyze data
  • Requires knowledge of legal aspects of contracts
  • Proven ability to successfully manage cross functional teams, and implement improvement within an established time frame, then sustain improvements
  • Strong negotiation skills, costing skills, contract writing and risk management skills as well as excellent analytical skills
  • High energy, data driven, and results oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills and organization skills must be comfortable teaching and presenting to large groups at all levels of the organization from shop floor to Business Unit Executives.
  • Strong project management skills
