About the Opportunity
Help us succeed by doing your part as a member of our Paint Shop as a Paint Prep Mechanic.


A Paint Prep Mechanic prepares parts for painting by performing various surface operations such as cleaning, stripping and masking.

Major duties of a Paint Prep Mechanic include:

  • Paint prep duties:
    • Fills containers with prescribed quantities of paint and thinner;
    • Applies masking to articles;
    • Sands, cleans, and prepares surface of articles to be painted;
    • Positions articles in jigs or erects ladders and scaffolds.
    • Loads and moves materials to work area.
    • Furnishes Painter with materials, tools, and/or supplies.
    • Installs specified nozzles in spray guns.
  • Post-paint duties:
    • Transports painted articles to and from drying oven.
    • Cleans spray and drying chamber, conveyer, tanks, hoses, and nozzles.
    • Racks parts in racks, and inspects, marks, and transfers finished pieces to stockroom or shipping area.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Must be proficient in the usage of hand tools.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment is preferred, but not required.
