Currently seeking a highly motivated, Production Manager to join our team working in a hands-on, collaborative environment. The Production Manager supports Operations and Production for United Technologies Aerospace Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a positive employee relation’s climate, which encourages buy-in, teamwork and full participation by employees across the organization.
  • Lead Visual Management activities and maintain communication lines with department managers and support teams.
  • Oversee and coordinate manufacturing operations to ensure on-time starts and completions within estimated standards and quality levels.
  • Ensure operations employees are compliant with procedures, manufacturing operation sheets, and work instructions.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
  • Directs workers in adjusting processes and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment and technology to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years management experience with progressive responsibilities in the areas of Operations Management in a manufacturing enviroment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with machinists.
  • Strong technical, interpersonal, teamwork, organization and time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage employees in a pressure-filled environment and working as a team to meet highly aggressive goals.
  • Thorough understanding of operation planning principles
  • Demonstrated success in developing tactical plans and carrying through to successful execution.
  • Numeracy skills- financial analysis + business acumen - must be data driven
  • Ability to manage multiple product lines to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Proficient in use of procurement functions of ERP systems and Microsoft Office products
  • Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or six sigma principles
  • Familiarity with FAR, DFAR and other related Government regulations a plus.
  • Continuous Improvement experience e.g. ACE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc. strongly desired.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills with proven ability to facilitate teamwork across functions.
  • Ability to influence and motivate in a matrix organization.
  • Experience in recruiting, developing, and staffing high performance operations talent.
  • Possess strong decision making, analytical, problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Must be comfortable working as a team to meet highly aggressive goals and satisfy both program and process requirements successfully.
  • Must be comfortable training or presenting to large groups including upper levels of management. Ability to influence and motivate in a matrix organization. Bias for action and sense of urgency to obtain results.
  • Aerospace industry experience highly desirable.
  • Advanced software application skills in Microsoft suite, SAP, Business Warehouse, Excel macro's and pivot tables. Experience in programming languages (R, STATA, etc.) preferred.
