As a member of Triumph Aerospace Structures, the Supply Chain Capital / Tooling Buyer will provide support to Triumph leadership in achieving the company’s business objectives through effective management and execution of Supply Chain strategies, best practice deployment, commodity management, and related supply chain activities. The qualified candidate will work as part of a functional supply chain team and coordinate various activities with supply chain management professionals and multiple manufacturing locations as well as work closely with enterprise supply chain professionals and divisional personnel in strategy development and deployment.
The purpose for this role is to manage source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the company’s needs for Capital and site tooling.
Responsible for all tooling sourcing related activities such as fixtures, tooling, and capital along with other in house tools to support and act as a liaison between manufacturing, buyers and tooling design and manufacturing suppliers.
This position may participate in one or more of the following duties as directed by supervision or management:
Ensure all aspects of Purchasing’s policies, objectives, and initiatives are achieved including maximizing customer satisfaction (internal and external) and minimizing cost
Initiate Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), Purchase Orders (PO) and amendments for tooling, Capital and/or services; maintain close coordination with plant engineering, scheduling and production to ensure timely execution of products and services sourcing activities
Build, develop and manage partnership, relationships, with Suppliers and contract manufacturers
Initiate and/or coordinate outsourced tooling work (Design/Manufacture) with qualified tooling subcontractors. Ensure accuracy, quality workmanship and on time delivery
Maintain awareness of industry standards, trends, and technologies in order to identify cost reductions of goods/services purchased and cost of operations through standardization of material and value analysis
Analyze and review purchasing reports and documents to ensure internal standards are met
Develop, track, analyze and improve key purchasing parameters such as materials spend supplier delivery, inventory accuracy, etc.
Maintain all buying activities as assigned
Interface with Customers, Suppliers, and internal functional organizations
Participate in design reviews and specifications for manufacturing feasibility
Be responsible for all export control requirements and Triumph compliance policies for all documentation
Actively participate in the identification of tool design problems and define corrective actions
Responsible to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct
Must have general working knowledge of tool and fixture design for the areas of machining, (Lathes, Mills, Grinding, CNC applications), fabrication (sheet metal, forming, composites)and inspection (various non-destructive techniques and measurement systems)
Possess mechanical aptitude and a general understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques
Knowledge of Tools/Capital and their applications
Proficient with standard Microsoft Office software
Strong Customer relationship and communication skills (verbal and written)
Experience managing project work on a variety of projects running simultaneously
Participate actively in a team oriented environment with the ability to function with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated results through negotiations
Strong conflict resolution and problem solving skills
Required Education / Experience
The successful candidate will typically have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
Minimum, 10 years’ experience in a variety of Procurement or Purchasing role(s)
Experience with SAP, Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project
Masters’ Degree in Business Administration
CPM, CSCP certification or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of aerospace structures and associated commodities
