Overview

The Sr. Manager Supply Chain will provide leadership in achieving the company’s business objectives through effective management and execution of supply chain strategies and sourcing activities. The qualified candidate will lead and manage the local supply chain team and work closely with both divisional personnel and enterprise supply chain professionals in both tactical and strategic capacities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all Buyers to execute on all transactional related activities including requisitioning, purchase order creation, approval, and confirmation, delivery schedule management, expedited order processing, promise dating, and order delivery escalation.  
  • Provide strong leadership and guidance in the Supply Chain organization and establish a cohesive and proactive team capable of balancing multiple demands in a fast paced production environment.
  • Use existing MRP and multiple data systems to create sustainable tools and dashboards necessary to drive daily Buyer activities, anticipate production needs, provide status reports to management, and advise of critical situations as needed.  
  • Work closely with enterprise Supply Chain Management to coordinate Supply Chain operations strategies including make/buy analysis, work transfer management, intercompany procurement, proposal support, total cost of ownership modeling, proposal support, and support of regional procurement strategies.
  • Support and implement center led commodity and supplier strategies to evaluate common spend, identify leverage opportunities, obtain price/cost reductions with existing suppliers, rationalize/consolidate the supply base, secure favorable long term agreements, and support long term supplier relationships.
  • Develop division-specific commodity strategies, including strategy formulation, supplier categorization, and strategy implementation.
  • Understand and incorporate the competitive landscape for various commodities and incorporate global market intelligence into commodity strategies and supplier negotiations to control cost related to multiple raw material, direct material, and indirect material and services commodities.
  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge and personally own all aspects of the site’s supply chain and establish credibility, rapport and recognition as the ‘go to’ leader and strategic partner for the company’s stakeholders, internal customers, and suppliers.
  • Proactively deploy common processes, standard work practices, and tools to minimize redundant expenditures across businesses, reduce cycle times, lower inventory levels, rationalize the supply base, and achieve enterprise financial objectives.
  • Control and execute all aspects the Sourcing of materials and services, including compliant RFP/RFQ practices, detailed bid analysis, coherent communication of bid analyses are recommendations for supplier selection, and all related award and contracting activity.
  • Lead and deliver on all new program introduction commitments; control material purchasing to strict cost, quality and time schedules, support production readiness reviews to ensure timely delivery to the customer.
  • Understand, develop, and implement materials management strategies including replenishment strategies (kanban, min/max, pull systems) and consignment.
  • Manage stores and warehouse activities such as kitting, line side deployment, and ensure inventory accuracy in conjunction with ERP and Procurement processes.
  • Provide Production and the Program Office with status regarding supplier and materials availability issues; conduct program reviews with key suppliers to ensure support of business objectives and production requirements.
  • Support supplier management activities including: (1) Monitor and report total supply base performance related to on time deliver and quality performance and supplier financial stability (2) Utilize existing KPIs and metrics to manage specific supplier performance and corrective actions related to delivery and quality. (3) Provide supplier surveillance required to support production, manage at-risk suppliers, and ensure delivery of materials to support production requirements. (4) Develop and execute supplier continuous improvement activities that drive reductions in both cost and price. (5) Lead and evaluate value stream mapping / value-add value-engineering project management activities that enable cost reduction by transitioning certain activities up the value chain and involve suppliers in design and engineering activities. (6) Drive and support supplier development and qualification including supplier certification, supplier assessments, source inspection, obsolescence management, and general support of supplier quality functions. (7) Direct and manage cost, schedule and technical performance requirements that are levied on the supplier.
  • Utilize enterprise data analytics tools and support data requirements that enable enterprise data warehouse requirements including spend data, commodity codes, data mining, savings tracking, and other data related activities.
  • Comply with existing standard work practices and assist in the development of additional best practices to drive standardization of work across the enterprise.
  • Have knowledge of and comply with all import/export and other regulatory requirements (Conflict Minerals, REACh) and other requirements of the enterprise.
  • Manage a team of procurement professionals including hiring, performance appraisals, career development, and talent management in coordination with enterprise directives.
  • Business travel (20% to 30%) when needed.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Masters degree in Business Administration preferred.      
  • CPM, CSCP certification or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of supply chain management experience in with progressively more responsibility
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing disciplines
  • Extensive knowledge in aerospace structures commodities
  • Demonstrable financial acumen regarding cash flow, margin, working capital, and inventory turns
  • Experience leading the strategic analysis to determine make/buy decisions
  • A high sense of urgency, accountability, and commitment to delivering value to the organization

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge in manufacturing and assemblies
  • Experience with Raw material Procurement via distribution and mill channels
  • Experience with standard ERP scheduling and ordering practices, metrics, and reports
  • Proven track record of success in implementing commodity strategies and leading best practices within a global and product diverse environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
