Overview

Triumph Aerospace Structures, a tier-one manufacturer for commercial, military, and business jet aircraft is currently seeking an Environmental Safety and Health Engineer for its Marshall Street facility in Grand Prairie, TX.  The ES&H Engineer develops, manages and maintains the facility’s ES&H Program promoting safe and healthful work practices for the protection of the employees, physical assets and production operations.   The ES&H Engineer will work with employees at all levels of the organization, and will represent the company and act as the liaison with governmental agencies and will interact directly with the company Director of ES&H and other facility ES&H leaders

Responsibilities

The ES&H Engineer will be responsible but not limited to the following:

    • Lead development of facility strategic ES&H Planning.
    • Lead and/or participate in the investigation of employee concerns, ES&H Incidents, and Near Misses, along with corrective action development, implementation and follow-up
    • Maintain and communicate ES&H metrics as required, to facility, division and corporate ES&H management
    • Ensure ES&H reviews are integrated into the Management of Change process and the Lean efforts
    • Evaluate effectiveness of existing ES&H programs; determine the need for any additional programs; develop and implement additional programs as needed, or dictated by division and corporate management
    • Act as the facility ES&H contact with government agencies
    • Track and audit programs for compliance with all state, city and federal regulations to include inspections/audits and data for environmental reports, along with timely report submittal (Form R, air emissions reports, etc.)
    • Develop and conduct environmental and safety training for new employees, annual training for existing employees, lead the safety committee and conduct walk-throughs.
    • Ensure proper monitoring and staffing of the plant environmental control equipment and the monitoring/sampling/reporting is complete and submitted as required by permit.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or related field
  • 7-10 + years direct related experience (heavy manufacturing preferred)
  • ES&H-related Certifications preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous materials Manager (CHMM) or similar or in process to acquire
  • Knowledge and experience developing and implementing occupational safety, industrial health and environmental programs (aerospace manufacturing experience a definite plus)
  • Strong interpersonal skills: must be able to work with employees, management and regulators
  • Thorough knowledge of ES&H regulatory standards and compliance
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with a continuous process discipline such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing would be helpful
