Triumph Aerospace Structures, a tier-one manufacturer for commercial, military, and business jet aircraft is currently seeking an Operational Excellence Champion to partner with Business Leaders to create roadmaps to reduce operational waste and achieve manufacturing and business excellence standards.

The Operational Excellence Champion will have responsibility for driving operational excellence and assisting in establishing a sustainable continuous improvement culture across the Nashville site. This highly hands-on role will lead process improvements that meet business needs, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in leading strategic initiatives and contribute to the overall performance of the business.

The Operational Excellence Champion is expected to be a change leader and manager, partnering with Senior Leaders across the site to assist in developing and executing their specific continuous improvement roadmaps.

    • Drive the continuous improvement culture through the deployment of the Triumph Operating System (TOS).
    • Teach the TOS tools throughout the operating company. TOS includes lean, six sigma, supply chain, new product introduction (NPI), program management and problem solving.
    • Drive the lean vision by leading and participating in VSM’s, strategic initiatives, projects, Kaizens, Just Do It’s (JDI’s), utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools to improve the process.
    • Assist in the development and management of the transformation roadmaps, both at the Site and Program level. Ensure best practices and standardization is being considered and shared across all programs.
    • Provide event follow-up to monitor the progress of projects to assure timely action, early intervention, appropriate support and achievement of expected tangible benefits. Follow-up after the completion of events to ensure the improvement / benefits have been sustained.
    • Engage the workforce as a coach in order to develop a problem solving culture at all levels of the organization, and specifically the Triumph Change Agents (TCA’s).
    • Effectively use project management skills / tools to manage continuous improvement projects.
    • Lead and direct Root Cause Failure Analysis of significant People, Process and Equipment related to downtime events; implement permanent corrective actions to mitigate probability of reoccurrence.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years well-rounded progressive leadership experience working in a highly complex and low volume manufacturing environment is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading Lean/Six Sigma events and driving lean transformation with proven results is required. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
